Micro Enterprise Development
Micro Enterprise Development (MED) consists of various interrelated
programs to improve the quality of life for marginalized groups by
providing access to financial and support services to the poor rural
women living below poverty line, which will enable them to use their
skills and employ resources / natural resources in income generating
activities. MED is totally based on participatory methods: a Community Based Organization (CBO) is formed with groups of 5-6 women -more than one group is essential in each targeted area so as to create a sense of competition between the groups more than one groups. Each group will start saving a fixed amount on regular basis and after a certain period matching funds is provided with which one person of a group will start one Income Generating Activity (IGA). The interest rate and time for repayment of loan will be fixed by the decision of the group so that the loan can be rotated among other participant in the group. |
